3 Steps to Revamp your B&B’s Performance

There are always more things you can do to revamp your small accommodation business. And this year should be about taking it to the next level. Here are three steps you can take to improve your B&B’s performance.

Revamp your service
There are two parts to servicing guests – face to face, and online.

In person…
Show off your personality! It’s the reason why properties like yours do so well in the first place.
Always have the guest’s best interest at heart – don’t up sell something just to push the bottom line. This attitude is what will encourage them to come back.

Online…
Make sure that you touch base with guests before their stay. Beyond your automatic booking confirmation email, you should let them know how they can prepare, and get them excited to stay with you.
Respond to reviews. Whether good or bad, you should be keeping an eye on what guests are saying about you, and responding appropriately.

Revamp your online presence
Your online presence is so important because that’s what travellers are using to research and book their accommodations.

Make sure you…
Mobile-optimize your site, because 65% of same-day hotel reservations are now being made via smartphone. Also, your search ranking is at risk of being dropped if your site is not mobile-friendly.
Invest in your website. Your website is the key to getting more direct online bookings, which are commission-free! Make sure that it is as functional and informative as possible, and that the online booking process is smooth.
Partner with online booking sites. These sites can help to tap into markets that you simply couldn’t reach on your own.

Revamp your bottom line
Running a sustainable inn is all about boosting your revenue.

And you can’t do that without…
Knowing what works (and trying to do more of it). This means having the right kind of reports handy to help you make the decisions that really matter! If you’re using a modern property management system, it should generate all of these reports for you with just a few clicks.
Finding ways to increase incremental revenue. Persuade your hotel guests to spend a little more through your online booking engine by adding carefully thought-out extras such as a romantic package or champagne breakfast. You can also offer discounts for extended stays.
Capitalize on the latest trends. Understand what’s hot in travel and use it to your advantage. Find ways to attract specific markets – like health and wellness guests and Chinese travellers.
