Quality in Tourism (QT) has awarded its Safe, Clean & LegalTM accreditation to The 25, a multi-award winning boutique B&B in Torquay, Devon. The 25 currently holds the title ‘Best B&B in the World’ from TripAdvisor and has now demonstrated its ongoing commitment to guest safety.
The Safe, Clean & LegalTM scheme, which has been running since 2018, is a robust, independent accreditation that takes businesses through everything they need to operate legally and compliantly, as well as providing essential advice for keeping guests safe. The scheme has been updated to reflect COVID-19 guidelines.
The assessment process includes a set of cleaning protocols, sector specific guidelines and a risk assessment template. The assessment team from Quality in Tourism is available to take any questions or queries to help guide operators through the process. The final stage is a visit by a fully trained assessor to review the paperwork to ensure that properties are adhering to the measures that they have put in place.
The 25 currently holds the title ‘Best B&B in the World’ as awarded at the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards in 2019. Owners, Andy & Julian Banner-Price said “We found it useful to chat through our COVID-19 Secure Policy with the assessor and take on board their advice. It was reassuring to hear that we were approaching guest safety in the right manner and look forward to reopening when we’re able to do so.”
Director of Quality in Tourism, Deborah Heather says “We are delighted to be able to award The 25 with our Safe, Clean & LegalTM accreditation. The scheme covers not only COVID-19 strategies but also ensures that all legal obligations are covered too, assuring visitors that the places they are visiting have done all they can to protect them.”
Independent research from BVA/BRDC shows that 75% of guests say Safe, Clean & LegalTM reassures them the property meets legal standards, 73% are reassured that it is cleaned to the highest standards and 68% say it gives them the confidence to make a booking.
