How to use BESPOKE SOFT FURNISHINGS to BRING THE WOW FACTOR TO your B&B

This month we have caught up with Mitre Linen’s Rachel Price, to discuss how luxury B&Bs can give the wow factor to their rooms using the latest soft furnishing trends.

We have compiled all her tips on how to create a luxurious room using the latest  colours, prints and textures onto your curtains, cushions, bed runners and bedspreads.

Go for a wow effect

Be on trend and choose this year’s bold designs and colours. Don’t be afraid to be bold and embrace glorious geometrics with splashes of lime and grey, bright animal prints and glamorous metallic undertones.

There’s a whole range of delightful crushed velvets, tartans and printed linens on the market today which will give any room an added wow factor. First impressions count and a unique room décor will help to make your establishment stand out and create an unforgettable stay.

Try using different tones

Transform your bedrooms with the use of colour this season. Popular this year are the rich and bold colours including aubergine, navy, purple and walnut or striking shades of magenta, scarlet and lilac. All can bring a real impact to a guestroom. Earthy colours such as slate, chocolate, lime and taupe are softer on the eye and give a room a more subtle, muted tone.  Also in demand at the moment are the vintage tonal colours including dusky pink, soft gold and chalk blue which add a beautiful, delicate look to a room.

Go outside for inspiration

The outdoors trend was popular last year and it is set to continue in 2017.  It’s a beautiful style which works very well for luxury B&Bs because it evokes a sense of calmness and tranquility – which is exactly what you need when you are away from home.

Try stylish bird and floral prints

This is a striking trend which has really started to take off this year. Try mixing and matching floral prints and bird prints for a traditional look with a bit of a contemporary twist. These prints look great on runners, cushions and blackout lined curtains in a room and help to create an indulgent setting. We love them in this season’s slate, pistachio, claret and petrol colours.

Go denim

Recently, Dulux announced that their colour for this year is the extremely versatile and sophisticated ‘Denim Drift’. Blue is proving to be in demand and, at Mitre Linen, we’re seeing blue having a big influence on interiors in luxury Bed and Breakfast establishments already. Plan your refurbishment well

Customers today have very high expectations so it is crucial to make sure that the room they will be staying in is all they have dreamed of. Try to invest in quality products and ask for professional advice from soft furnishing experts to make sure each room is both stylish and comfortable. When you are choosing fabrics, try to think about pattern repeats and picture how these would look in the room. An easy way to add a touch of glamour to any room is to add colour, different textures and prints. It is a good idea to provide blackout curtains (something that we offer as standard at Mitre Linen) because they help your guests to enjoy a good night’s sleep without being disturbed by outside light.

Make your budget go further

Don’t despair if your budget is tight as it is still possible to create an exciting space for your guests. One way you can do this is to re-consider the sizes of your cushions and runners so you can best use the width of the fabric.
